The Radhost Complector

The Radhost Complector shows its bearer the way to other world realms and planes of existence. Etched inside you will find many dead ends and oubliettes tempting you to stray from the paths that lead to Avalon, Atlantis, Asgard, Midgard, Helheim and tir Na Nog, home to the Fae folk and to the Cormon. But most important of all, you will find the path home. The pointer of the Complector is a shard of citrine quartz suspended in the middle of three spinning brass rings that revolve to show you where you are, or perhaps warn you that you are on the wrong path. The hand beaten spherical brass map is protected by a segmented layer of oak and then encased in a cage of dressed copper and brass. A small covered portal in the Complector' front can be opened in order to check your heading or you can open the top altogether if you are in fear of getting lost in the ether. If you intend for your adventures to take you to far off lands and realms of the unknown, or if you are seeking things most men fear to speak of, you will need to arm yourself with The Radhost Complector. Scarab Necklace

This piece was created as a gift. The main body of the piece is made of an exotic hardwood and each feather is individually cut in order for the grain to flow down it's length. The other detail is pierced brass and the body of the scarab is solid amber mounted on brass in order to reflect the light that it catches up through its body. The whole piece is secured with cold fixtures.

The Tree of Life

This piece was created for a private commission from concept through design to completion. The main body of the piece is pierced nickel silver on a sliver of hickory with brass detail. In the roots of the tree is a piece of polished Baltic amber which is mirrored by a small amber acorn high in the branches. This signifies the cycle of life. The seed falls from the tree in order for another to take root and the circle of life continues. The two small birds taking flight from the branches signify that all living things are connected and, in some small way, dependant on each other. (pictures courtesy of Gary Conway)

Fountain

This piece was produced by both Armorel Hamilton and myself for The Chagford Filmmaking Group from a concept sketch by Alan Lee. The main bulk of the well and figure were constructed from insulation foam on a base of plywood and m.d.f. around a four foot diameter plastic garden pond. The whole piece was given a protective coating and the water feature is gravity fed. (photographs courtesy of Brian Skilton)

Miniatures

These miniatures are hand sculpted in 28mm scale. They are copies of existing miniatures that are produced by a leading wargames miniatures company and were produced purely as a practical experiment in order to further my portfolio. they were not produced by or for said company or for re-sale purposes. Each miniature was sculpted using a two part epoxy modelling putty. The miniature on the bike was converted from an existing model and the bike itself was designed and scratch built in its entirety by me.

Noahs Astrolabe

Noah's Astrolabe was produced for a university brief. Having to create something that may relate to the biblical tale of Noah’s ark I designed and created what I imagine Noah may have used to navigate his way round a flooded Earth. It is a double skinned brass and copper orb that splits into two separate halves and is held together by a brass cage which is also a set of navigational rings. The orb itself can be moved freely inside the outer cage. This piece was based on astrolabes used by ancient mariners.

Armour of the Ancient Samurai

This piece is based on the armour of the ancient samurai. The outer material is blue denim. Each panel is in fact a pocket containing a section of Kevlar or flack armour making the entire suit stab proof from head to toe. The helmet is solid Kevlar. The suit is designed to be worn and used. When on display it sits atop a wooden packing chest into which it all fits (stand included) for ease of transport.

Miniature Swords

These miniature swords were produced as a practical experiment in the style of an apprentice blade smith of old. Each one was hand forged from carbon steel and heat treated in much the same way as a full size blade. The furniture for each was created in a small metals workshop using materials such as copper, brass and nickel silver with the grips wrapped in silk and leather.

Retro Autopistol

This is the design for a pair of identical pistols. The design for these was originally commissioned for a movie which is now sadly no longer being made. They were intended to give the impression that they were made by a man who has crossed modern firearm technology with a retro aesthetic to give a wholly individual feel to his weapon of choice. They are designed to be used as a functional (but non firing) prop.

Ewing Family Sword

This project was undertaken on a personal level. After researching my family history I have included my family crest, name and motto in the design. The cross piece and pommel are adorned with Celtic dogs and horses. The symbols of courage and strength. When the sculpt of the furniture is finished they will be reproduced in wax and lost wax cast in bronze. I will then forge the blade to fit.

Boar Sword

The furniture for this sword depicts two crossed boar on the cross piece and two crossed eagles on the pommel. The cross and pommel are sculpted and carved from abs plastic and when finished will be reproduced in wax and loast wax cast. I will then forge the blade to fit.

Demon Slayer Sword

This piece is designed to give the impression of a centuries old religious artefact. The sword of a demon hunter. The blade is inspired by gothic architecture and will have a stained glass window at its centre which will be made of boiled and painted bull horn. The cross piece represents a pair of gargoyles as found adorning most churches and cathedrals. The pommel is currently being redesigned. This piece will be forged and cast when all pieces have been sculpted.

Kennet, Kentford Village Sign

This sign was created for the bordering villages of Kennet and Kentford in Cambridgeshire. The images either side of the sign depict that which each village is famous for. Kennet being famous for a lance that was supposedly stuck in a tree and Kentford, famous for it's horse stud and stables. The scrolls that decorate the top and bottom of the sign were hand forged from mild steel and attached to a box steel frame that houses the sign itself. The images either side were designed by myself and plasma cut from 3mm plate steel and attached to a central steel plate.
