The Masonic Angel

This piece was commissioned to celebrate both the 50th birthday of my clients husband, and the fact that he was soon to be made Grand Master of his Masonic lodge.
The angel is comprised of several materials. The torso, head and arms are carved from oak. The robes and wings are hand beaten from Nickel Silver sheet, and the decoration is brass with copper rivets.
In his hands he holds Tyler’s sword and the Book of Constitutions. These symbolise his willingness to uphold and defend the laws and traditions of the Free Masons.
The Book of Constitutions has a copper cover with real paper pages. Tyler’s sword has a sharpened steel blade, brass fitting and a hardwood handle.
The angle stands approximately nine inches tall.
