The Tree of Life

This piece was created for a private commission from concept through design to completion. The main body of the piece is pierced nickel silver on a sliver of hickory with brass detail. In the roots of the tree is a piece of polished Baltic amber which is mirrored by a small amber acorn high in the branches. This signifies the cycle of life. The seed falls from the tree in order for another to take root and the circle of life continues. The two small birds taking flight from the branches signify that all living things are connected and, in some small way, dependant on each other. (pictures courtesy of Gary Conway)  [nggallery id=20]
